Shalom. Bienvenue. Hola. Hello.
Welcome to Sarah Almer and Avi Green’s wedding
webpage.
Our wedding will be on Sunday, April 10th,
2005, Rosh Chodesh Nisan 5765.
The huppah will be raised and the ceremony will
begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Omni Parker House Hotel
in Boston,
located at 60 School
Street. Both the ceremony and the
reception will take place at the hotel’s rooftop ballroom.
Please check this Web site again for updates!
If you drive to the
wedding ceremony and reception, parking is available around the corner from the
hotel at the Pi Alley Parking Garage at 275 Washington Street. From the entrance of the hotel, proceed down
School Street, turn left on Washington Street, and Pi Alley will be on your
left. Pi Alley’s telephone number is 617-720-2006.
While ours will be
a small wedding, Boston is a big town!
We recommend that out-of-town guests avoid traffic, expense and hassle
by leaving their cars at home. The most
inexpensive flights into Boston we have found are on AirTran and USAirways, though you may find that another carrier
works best for you. Once in Boston, the
hotel is a few minutes ride in a taxi or on the MBTA.
Known as the T, the MBTA is Boston’s quick, efficient, and wonderful
subway, the oldest in the country.
From the airport, you can take the Blue Line on the T to Government Center. The Omni Parker House is just two short blocks up Tremont Street. For people coming from other parts of town, other very close T-stops include Park Street (go two blocks down Tremont from the stop) and Downtown Crossing (walk two blocks down Washington Street, and two blocks up School).
The MBTA is also a
great tool for seeing the city and getting around while in Boston, and taxis
are ubiquitous, convenient, and moderately priced. Boston is a dense city, with unfortunately few signs to help
newcomers with the Byzantine layout of roads and tunnels, and parking is scarce
and expensive.
We have reserved a
block of rooms at the Omni Parker House.
Please call 1-800-THE-OMNI to reserve a room. There is also a good rate available for AAA members.
Other nearby,
moderately priced hotels include the John Jeffries House, 617-367-1866, the Newbury Guest House, 617-436-7666,
and the Harborside Inn, 888-723-7565.
Boston is full of
very old things (for the US). The Freedom
Trail, a painted path
connecting interesting places on America’s road to independence, runs right
past the door of the Parker House.
Other ideas:
April in Boston is
unpredictable. Snow is not unusual,
neither is rain, cold, or, for that matter, sun. Happy Bostonians usually remember to bring mittens, gloves, and
hats, just in case. Average April
temperature is 48 degrees Fahrenheit.
